My yoga Journey
My yoga journey had a rocky start. Being a runner I thought yoga was a form of working out because of the images I saw. For many years I tried classes but didn’t understand and felt it wasn’t for me. In 2015 I attended a yoga retreat in Thailand that changed the way I viewed yoga. This was the first time I learned about yoga philosophy and how these useful lessons could be incorporated into daily life. I decided to give yoga a 2nd chance, exploring different studios throughout Hong Kong, taking a class a week. I started to notice a change in my body. The weeks I didn’t take a class I just didn’t feel the same. My running also improved. My legs weren’t as tired, I didn’t have injuries, and my half marathon time was improving every year in my annual race. The only thing I had changed was practicing yoga.
In 2019 my life entered a new chapter. My father became sick and passed away from a rare cancer. He was creative, passionate, an explorer, and most importantly dedicated his life and business to helping others when they needed it most. I quickly realised life is not about how hard you work, it’s about what you do for others, how you make them feel. This stuck with me.
I started exploring different yoga teacher programs when I got back to Hong Kong. I simply wanted to learn and needed something else in my life. I signed up where I felt most at home with Hersha’s Integral Yoga Teacher Program with no intentions to teach. My life has now shifted because of this experience.
The yoga I teach is a holistic practice, helping you go inwards. I incorporate the asana’s (postures), yoga nidra (deep relaxation), breathing techniques, and meditation. I believe all Hong Konger’s can benefit from this relaxing practice.
My rooftop has become my favorite place to practice so I’ve opened it up to share this Hatha session with others. Join me for a class in this intimate tropical oasis.
